We present to you a report on selected aspects of the politics and economy of the Russian Federation. The team of the Institute of New Europe addresses issues such as: unlimited hybrid warfare, the state of the Russian economy, Russian activities in Africa, and the Russian military-industrial complex. We hope that the discussed issues, as well as the drawn conclusions and recommendations, will serve decision-makers in formulating appropriate security and defense policies. Especially in times of increased public debate about the state and capabilities of the Russian Federation, is it indeed a “paper tiger” as recently described by Donald Trump, and what is the purpose of the hybrid war waged by Russia? We believe that correctly identified areas of conducted policy and the state of the Russian economy will bring readers closer to the real capabilities of the Russian Federation, and its possible further steps on the international arena.
